    Question

    Hi,

After only using the midi-2 port (game port) for midi, i recently thought that i should try the frontpanel to be able to use my Yamaha A3k in a closed-midi loop to be able to edit parameters on it (on the midi-2 on the frontpanel) and also to be able to use the rest of my external devices in a separate loop (midi-1). After installing it, i get no midi what so ever out of neither 1 or 2. The configuration is correct, using irq 5, 7 and 9 (9 not used for midi-2 according to ews64.com faq) and two dma channels. There is no exclamation mark in the device manager either.

I have tried all different settings in the mixer applet (routing midi) but nothing seem to come out of the front ports. Have anyone got a clue what could be the cause of this problem?

    Kind regards

    Daniel

Just a thought... Not sure about the setup of your external device but have you connected the external device you have with the input of the EWS64 on the card panel
    (IN-1=Codec or IN-2=Synthesizer)?

    Hi,

yes, i have tried them both (1 and 2) but with no luck. I have been in contact with the support, but when they asked me to supply them with the irq/dma settings for my machine (which i sent in) i haven't heard anything from them. The funny thing is that all the irq/dma/mem.addresses are assigned as they should be. Could it be that the front panel is faulty. Is this a common problem?

    Regards

    Daniel

    Arrow

From what you tell the configuration seems to be correct.
So it could be a defective front panel or even a defective midi cable (bad connectors i.E.) - even though it?s not very likely I?d definitely test the cable in combination with the Yamaha?s MIDI socket.

What if you deactivate MIDI-2 and try to run the Yamaha on MIDI-1?
